The Parks Department held its sixth annual Girls and Women in Sports Day at the Chelsea Recreation Center on Saturday.

There were sports, workshops and social activities free of charge.

Organizers say the event was intended to promote equal opportunities for women in sports.

The Parks Department will hold workshops each of the next three Sundays, starting next week in Queens, followed by Brooklyn and then the Bronx.
