Police were searching Wednesday for a man riding a bicycle who fired a gun into a deli in the Soundview section of the Bronx on Tuesday night and injured an eight-year-old boy.

Surveillance video shows the boy entering the Papa Yala's Deli on Randall Avenue around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

As the youngster scanned a rack of potato chips near an open door, police say a gunman fired into a crowd outside.

The boy was grazed in the shoulder by a bullet and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.

The deli's owner, Mahmood Abdulrub, helped the boy's mother apply pressure to the wound and said the boy didn't panic.

"He just said 'Ouch' one time, and then besides that he was really calm about it. And he had the time to look up and say, 'Thank you, mister.' And I said, 'Don't worry about it, you'll be fine.' It was kind of cute in a way," said Abdulrub.

Residents said they were concerned for their children.

"There's always gun shots on this block. You have to keep your kids locked up now. They are on vacation, they can't enjoy the good weather we are going to have. Just keep them in the house. It's sad for them," said one Soundview resident.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
