Officials from the Manhattan district attorney's office said in a letter Tuesday that the son of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who was accused last month of raping a woman inside of her Manhattan office building, will not be charged by prosecutors.

In the letter, the assistant district attorney who investigated the case said, "After reviewing all the evidence, we have concluded that the established facts do not constitute a crime under New York criminal law."

Greg Kelly, who anchors “Good Day New York” on Fox 5 and previously appeared on NY1 as a political reporter, was under investigation for allegedly attacking a woman after the two shared drinks in October.

“I am thankful that the investigation established what I've known all along: that I am innocent of the allegations that were waged against me,” Kelly said in a statement.

A source had told the Associated Press that the woman became pregnant after the incident and later had an abortion. According to The New York Times, her boyfriend confronted the police commissioner at a public event, where he was told to write a letter.

Due to the obvious conflict of interest, the New York City Police Department turned the case over to the district attorney’s office.

In a statement released when the allegations first came to light, a lawyer for Greg Kelly said, "Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind, and is cooperating fully with the district attorney's investigation.”
