Local lawmakers are calling on the Pentagon to improve its diversity training after the death of an army private from the city.
Councilwoman Margaret Chin introduced a resolution Wednesday urging the federal government to take a more proactive role in preventing bullying within the ranks of the military.It comes after the alleged hazing death of Army Private Danny Chen by fellow soldiers.
Chin says that sort of behavior must change.
"This is the time that we want the U.S. Army to really look at their policy and make changes that will protect our sons and daughters,” said Chin.
Eight soldiers are charged in connection with Chen's death.
