A gaping hole in a Queens road has at last been fixed by National Grid. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following NY1 For You report.

“Christmas comes early this year for us,” says Queens resident Hardat Singh.

A huge hole in Ozone Park, Queens has finally been filled. Last week, NY1 For You looked into how it sat uncovered for over a month after National Grid replaced a gas main line, causing concern in the neighborhood.

“We have a school down the block, kids are constantly on this route, and you know kids are curious, so they're constantly looking in,” said Singh at the time of that report.

“I've seen kids actually jumping across, like daring each other,” added resident Zoey del Rio.

After residents called NY1 For You, NY1 contacted National Grid, and they filled the hole immediately.

The eyesore is gone, parking spaces are back, but most of all, residents say they're happy it's safe again.

“The safety concern was the most important thing,” says Singh. “You can park your car anywhere, anywhere, but you have kids coming up and down the block and you never know what can happen. On behalf of the entire neighborhood, I just want to say thank you, NY1.”
