Police were investigating Sunday after a 13-year-old girl was struck and killed by an overturned sports utility vehicle driven by a stabbed man in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn the previous night.

Police say Sean Lewis, 44, was driving a Range Rover on Pacific Street in Ocean Hill around 10 p.m. when he struck three parked cars near Saratoga Avenue.

They say Lewis then backed up, hit another parked car and caused his SUV to flip over.

Witnesses said before Kira Goddard was hit, she screamed to her friends to get out of the way of the out-of-control Range Rover. She was then pinned beneath the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"I called Kira three times when it was happening to tell her, 'Go up the stairs, I don't know what's going on. Go up the stairs,'" said Lyn Joseph, a neighbor. "I saw the cops, I said, 'I don't know what's happening. I hope she's upstairs.' I called her three times on the phone, she didn't answer. She did not answer me three times.'"

Lewis suffered head injuries and was later pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital, where doctors discovered he had been stabbed in the torso.

By Sunday evening, it was still not clear where and when the stabbing took place.

Kira's heartbroken parents said her actions saved six or seven people.

"She tells them to get out of the way and they ran towards the building and they got into the building but Kira didn't get in," said Joyce Lovelady, Kira's mother.

"She was friendly, she was a treasure. She loved me a lot," said Wesley Bishop, Kira's father.

Mourning friends and family said that Kira had dreams of becoming a professional boxer.
