One block remains closed in Lower Manhattan after 70 mile per hour winds yesterday sent debris flying near a construction site.
The high winds swept wood and metal from a high rise being built on Spruce Street.
The Buildings Department issued a full stop-work order, and says the contractor will face violations.
The Buildings Commissioner pulled no punches, warning contractors to act responsibly when there's a forecast for wind.
"I'm telling you, contractors, this is a reminder,” said Buildings Commissioner Robert LiMandri. “When you see a wind advisory, you watch the weather alerts. You get out there and secure your sites. I don't care how big or how small your site it."
The block surrounding 8 Spruce Street remains closed – including William, Beekman, and Nassau Streets.
