It's a clear and chilly start to the day. But, sunshine will be replaced by clouds later today as an approaching cold front brings rain to the five boroughs.

Highs will top out around 50 degrees this afternoon before dipping into the 40s overnight. Then showers will likely put a damper on your Thursday morning commute, so be sure to get a jump start. Whipping winds will also make traveling difficult. The good news is that you won't need the umbrella for the entire day. The rain is expected to taper off by the afternoon. However, chilly air will be making a come back on Friday.

If you have any outdoor weekend plans, do them early. Rain is expected to arrive Saturday night with lingering showers early Sunday morning.
