Governor Andrew Cuomo's Democratic challenger Cynthia Nixon was in the Bronx Thursday.

Nixon held a roundtable discussion with community leaders and activists.

Housing issues dominated the conversation.

The panel discussed gentrification and living conditions in NYCHA buildings.

Nixon also talked about the need for policy change in Albany.

She says despite a lack of support at the Democratic state convention, she believes true progressives will back her.

"They know that the stuff that was said at the convention yesterday wasn't actually all true, and that they know the truth for themselves about how progressive New York State has really been under Andrew  Cuomo," she said.

Nixon now needs to get thousands of signatures from across the state in order to get on the ballot for the Democratic primary.
