STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The plan to build a ferris wheel on Staten Island has reportedly found new life.

The Staten Island Advance says the investment company CanAm Enterprises is moving forward with plans to build the attraction near the St. George ferry terminal.

The original wheel was designed to be more than 600 feet tall.

Construction on the Wheel’s giant pedestals and nearby infrastructure began before the project was eventually abandoned.

The new plans call for a smaller wheel that would be 420 feet tall, similar in scale to the London Eye.

Investors bailed out of the original ferris wheel back in 2018, when costs ballooned from an original estimate of $250 million up to more than a billion dollars.

CanAm has since been paying for upkeep of the original wheel site.

Construction of the new wheel is expected to take three and a half years.
