The MTA has plans to change 13 express bus routes on Staten Island later this summer and officials have set up shop outdoors to address passenger concerns.

Thursday morning, MTA officials turned out at the Eltingville Transit Center for an information session to brace commuters for the upcoming changes.

Staten Islanders face some of the longest commutes in the nation, with about 36,000 people riding express buses from Staten Island to Manhattan every week day.

But a recent MTA study recommended redesigning the express bus network to make trips to and from Manhattan faster and more reliable.

The plan to Reimagine Express Buses plan calls for changing routes and some bus stops.

"I hope with the new routing that it's not going to be confusing to everyone, and that everyone gets to where they need to go as efficiently as possible," said one express bus rider.

"I do think it's going to help shave off a little time and again, I think that will help people feel just a little bit better about the change," said another rider.

MTA officials say 72 percent of customers will continue to use the same bus stop. The agency promises the new stops will be less than a five minute walk from the old ones.

The changes are set to take effect August 19.
