For the last 50 plus years, the Verrazano Bridge has had only one Z in its name.

But its namesake explorer, Giovanni de Verrazzano, actually spelled it with two Zs.

The State Senate has now unanimously passed a bill to correct the mistake.

That means changing all the road signs with one Z, which the MTA has said could be costly.

The legislation now heads to the Assembly.

Verrazzano is credited with discovering New York Harbor, which the bridge spans to connect Staten Island and Brooklyn.
