After more than two decades, a Staten Island park is finally getting some major upgrades.

De Matti Park reopened Tuesday just in time for spring and summer.

The 7.1 Million Dollar renovation is part of the Community Parks initiative, that revamps neighborhood parks that need it most. Based off of community input, the upgrades include an adult fitness area, bocce ball courts and new playground equipment.

"They want to make sure they kept the garden, they want to make sure they kept the play area, but they wanted it to be more inter-generational, multi-generational. So all the features here make it accessible for seniors, for families, even for couples that want to come out here. It's an oasis," said Mitchell J. Silver  Commissioner, NYC Parks.

This Park is one of seven sites to undergo renovations on Staten Island and is the second to be opened. A new comfort station is also scheduled to open at the park this fall.
