A young girl was rushed to the hospital Friday after she was struck by a piece of falling debris in Queens.

A piece of wood fell from the top floor of a building under construction in Jackson Heights, Friday morning.

The 8-year-old girl, who lives next door, was hit in the head and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"There's no signs of work being done, there's no danger signs," the girl's mother said. "They don't use any kind of ropes to tie anything they're going to bring down. There's no safety at all."

The Department of Buildings has issued a stop work order at the site.

According to DOB records, the building has racked up several complaints, including previous reports of workers throwing objects from the roof.
