In the wake of the school shooting in Parkland Florida, community members held a rally calling for gun reform in front of Congressman Dan Donovan's office in New Dorp.

A spokesperson for Congressman Donovan said, “What happened in Florida is our worst nightmare, and sadly another tragedy where warning signs did not lead to prevention. Our schools should be safe spaces for our children to learn and grow, never to experience this kind of evil and senseless violence.  It was particularly gut-wrenching to learn that like many other cases, there were warning signs this individual was deeply deranged and dangerous. As a former DA, the Congressman knows from firsthand experience that we need to prevent the mentally ill from obtaining weapons and his voting record reflects that."
