After the water fountains at one Queens school were turned off due to high lead levels, some innovative students decided to figure out a way to get them back on.

PS 71's robotics team, the Owl Bots, have spent months researching the cost and process of installing filters.

They're also working with a water company on a plan that can be presented to the Department of Education.

The students will use what they've learned at a robotics competition this weekend that will focus on real world water problems.

"I was eager to help my school, help our water and make the school a better place," said student Anthony Bashir.

Winners of the tournament will move on to the City Championships.
