A Catholic school on Staten Island that's been around for more than 90 years is closing its doors.

The Sisters of St. John the Baptist have announced that St. John Villa Academy in Arrochar will close at the end of the school year.  The campus houses both an elementary and high school.

Officials blame the closure on a lack of sister personnel, declining enrollment and growing maintenance expenses.

"It's a great loss to the community. It's an all girl's catholic high school I received a wonderful education there. The news shocked us, I worry for the girls too that are in the elementary school that may not have another option," said former student Jennifer Mistretta.

Officials say they're working with the Archdiocese of New York to help place staff and students at other school's within the Catholic system.
