A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a cab on the Upper East Side.

Police say a 65-year-old man was hit while crossing the street on East 87th Street and Fifth Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Saturday

Sources tell NY1 the man had a service dog and was walking outside of the crosswalk.

"I heard the fire department come down and I heard sirens, and that's when I came outside," said one person at the scene. "When I looked down, I saw the cops, and I saw somebody laying on the floor in front of the cab."

The man was brought to Cornell Medical Center.

The driver of the taxi stayed on scene and the incident is under investigation.
