Staten Islanders who have an extra pair of shoes lying around now have a chance to put them to good use.

The Pro Youth Recreation and Family Center is partnering with the fundraising company Funds-2-Orgs for a Shoe Drive that matches all shoe donations with money that will go directly back into the Staten Island community.

The non-profit plans to use the funds collected to open a new youth center in West Brighton with an after-school program and vocational skill workshops.

"This is going to give back to this West Brighton Community. Being able to have a safe haven for children is very important to parents. To the children," said Assistant Director Sacha Thomas.

Gently used or new shoe donations will be accepted until January 14th. Drop off hours are 10am to 5pm daily at 683 Henderson Avenue on Staten Island.
