The FDNY is once again accused of discriminating against minorities.

Black EMS and civilian employees say the department provides lower wages and fewer opportunities for promotions.

The workers are asking for an outside monitor to review FDNY pay scales, and to increase what they call "the representation of African Americans" in paid positions.

The City Law Department has not yet commented on the lawsuit.

In 2015, the FDNY was ordered to pay $98 million to settle claims of discrimination in its hiring of black and Hispanic firefighters.

In that case, applicants argued the FDNY entrance exams discriminated against minority applicants.

The settlement changed the way city hires firefighters.
