Some Staten Island Students got a first-hand look at how to they could help save a life, in the future.

The NYPD's aviation unit, in cooperation with Northwell Health, held their 4th annual SPARK Challenge with Tottenville High School Students at Staten Island University Hospital on Monday.

A robot, with controlled vital signs was airlifted to the hospital to simulate a real emergency situation.

Students took part in a mock-trauma scenario, as doctors proceeded to treat the "patient's" symptoms.

"It's good to let the students know the future of what they could get into. The careers that they could get into…as far as with the police department, it's not just riding around in a patrol car," said NYPD Detective Joseph Daigneault.

The goals of the SPARK Challenge is to expose students to career paths in the science and medical fields.
