It will now be easier to explore nature on Staten Island's South Shore.

Officials cut the ribbon on newly renovated roads and a new pavilion at the Mount Loretto Unique Area Thursday.

The improvements were part of Governor Cuomo’s Adventure New York program.

It's a $50 million initiative to give people better access to outdoor space throughout the state.

"I'm hoping that folks just see this as another subtle amenity in what is otherwise a beautiful natural area,"  said Steve Zahn, Regional Director, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation

There are also plans to add an elevated platform so visitors can get better glimpses of the borough's coastline.
