It'll be a happy holiday this year for hungry residents in Hunts Point.

Local officials and the Hunts Point Produce Market worked with the NYPD to bring more than 25,000 pounds of food to members of the community.

It's all part of the third annual "Hunts Point Gives Back" event, providing fresh seasonal produce before Thanksgiving.

Organizers say it's about giving back to families in need.

"It's a wonderful feeling to be able to contribute to the community," said Sasha LoPresti, director of business development at A.J. Trucco Inc. "I say that on behalf of the market. It's not just myself, but, you know, the merchants are really, they just want to give back to our community."

"For those that can't afford to get any kind of groceries like this, it's really nice, especially in the Bronx," said one person at the event.

The bags are filled with tasty treats like apples, squash and potatoes, as well as easy recipes for the holiday season.
