One Staten Island summer camp gives it's campers a much deserved end of summer celebration after the students' hard work.

The 121st police precinct held a special graduation for students that participated in its annual summer camp.

The NYPD Summer Youth Police Academy sponsors the free camp for children between the ages of 10 and 16 years old.  The children commit to the program and spend six weeks of their summer - five days a week learning about the job of a police officer as well as important life skills.  They work side by side with members and also take part in lectures, drills and exercises.

"The ceremony is very important for the children, actually, because the children have been with us for six weeks. Giving up they basically, essentially gave up their summer so we wanted to reward them." said NYPD Sgt. Edward Leisengang.
