Jason Vario is the co-owner of Hook & Rail Meats.

He says his business was one of the sponsors of the 2017 Travis 4th of July parade.

But last week, storeowners along the parade route, say they received a letter asking for more money and help to keep it going in 2018.

"I'd really like to see the parade continue, especially as a business owner here in Victory boulevard I know it goes right by,” said Vario.

The event has taken place for the last 107 years, and while last months parade appears to have been a success, the notice to storeowners says they're low on funds and volunteers.

“It's been for a long time they said they'd cancel it I hope not like to see it continue,” said a local deli owner.

NY1 reached out to Parade officials, to find out just how much money and volunteers they are short, but have not yet heard back.

“Each year since I've given 3500 dollars year for the last 4 years and I'll continue to find them I know other elected officials such as the Borough president's office will also fund them,” said Councilman Steven Matteo who believes what the Parade commitee really needs, is more hands on help.

“You do need that core volunteer group that's going to have the meetings plan it and get the proper permits and make sure parade is successful.”

Officials say anyone who wants to get in touch with the parade committee about helping out or donating can contact information@travisparade.org
