Borough Hall felt more like Broadway Friday as Staten Islanders got to enjoy acts from two popular shows for free.

Actors from the show "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" performed the song "Pure Imagination"among others.

It was all part of "Broadway in the Boros," an initiative started by the mayor's office of media and entertainment to give people throughout the city a taste of Broadway.

The shows featured on Staten Island Friday were Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Bandstand.

"It's nice to bring a little Broadway to them and we hope they enjoyed it," said Laura Osnes, actress, Bandstand.

"I think it's nice that people like us can come out and do a small performance for the people here in Staten Island. Since they don't live in Manhattan, they can't see all the Broadway stuff that happens," said Ryan Sell, Actor, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

"It's amazing because I had never been to a Broadway play," said Yossiri Espinoza, a Queens resident.

People in the audience got gift bags. Inside of them was a golden ticket and the winner was able to trade that in for a free ticket to a Broadway show.
