"I think Staten Island, I think the tri-state area needed something different,” said Nico Daniele, the co-owner of Chubby’s Sandwiches.

Daniele was born and raised on Staten Island, but his restaurant Bella Gioia is located in Brooklyn. So he and a lifelong family friend Joseph Buonsante decided to bring it back home, and use this event to springboard into the food truck business.  Their delicious new endeavor is called Chubby's Sandwiches.

"It's sandwiches with a twist, it's not your typical Brooklyn sandwiches that you get at any Bodega. We're doing crazy crazy recipes. It's going to be a totally different sandwich experience for the tri-state area," said Daniele.

"I think it's going pretty well, we had a line up and down, everyone is talking about how good it is, can't get no better," said Buonsante

Chubby's signature sandwich “the Chris Christie” was a big hit.

Other Fan Favorites include the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and the frozen cheesecake on a stick.

“I'm a foodie so I'm actually excited about every one, I'm going to take a little sample from each one, I'm all in, I'm here and I'm all in," said attendee Joey DiBenedetto.

Food Truck Festival Organizers say they added ten new trucks this year, now up to 28 in year two of the event and thousands of people got a taste. Admission and parking is five dollars each with all of the proceeds going to the Catholic Charities of Staten Island.

"Overall what the festival series of Catholic Charities of SI does is about bringing families together, so when we started a food truck festival I did not realize the combination of food and family would bring out the masses," said Catholic Charities of Staten Island CEO Vincent Ignizio.
