A West Brighton eatery treats its customers to a snack on-the-house.

The Philly Pretzel Factory on Forest Avenue served-up free pretzels Wednesday in honor of National Pretzel Day.

Former Philadelphia Congressman Robert Walker started the tradition back in 19-83 as a way to honor his favorite food.

Staff say it's also the perfect opportunity to engage the community.

"It's a good way of getting people to walk through the doors, see what we have, see what pretzels are about," said Cory Nelson, the Assistant Manager at Philly Pretzel Factory.

The store also handed out discounts and other promotions as part of the celebration.
