Stapleton residents picked up a few tips on how to care for the trees in their neighborhood Saturday morning.

The NYC Parks Stewardship Team and Staten Islanders manicured young street trees on the North Shore.

Volunteers picked up debris and weeded the area surrounding ten trees.

New mulch was laid to help the trees grow and mature.

Participants say it's important to take care of the nature in our borough that is located outside of the parks.

"New York City has one of the largest park systems, but we also have one of the best street tree systems in the country " said Joe Kurtz, with the NYC Parks Field Crew.

"Local street trees, we walk past them everyday, no body really takes care of them so we are just trying to step up and help out. " said Raymond Jimenez, volunteer.
