They may have lost the battle to save a century-old property from being demolished, but the Committee to Save Mount Manresa says it will continue its preservation efforts.

The group hosted its first fundraiser as an official nonprofit organization Sunday at the Labetti Post in Rosebank.

"Friends of Mount Manresa" will now focus their efforts on putting an end to overdevelopment.

Leaders say they will also be fighting for rezoning across the borough to protect open spaces.

Jack Bolembach the president of the Committee to Save Mt. Manresa says,

"To make the community aware of all the environmental issues, zoning issues, things that are important not just for Rosebank, Fort Wadsworth but for all of Staten Island."

The group is now accepting donations on its website.
