Staten Island University Hospital is ready to root on Team USA at the Summer Olympics.

The hospital held its own opening ceremony Friday.

Patients participated in a torch relay ending with an Olympic flame lighting in the rehabilitation wing.

Staff members say it brings patients together in support of one another and of Team USA.

"It was fun, something different to change the monotony of our days here in rehab, but it was very nice," said Patient Margo Coleman.

"I think it gives them a sense of community, a sense of camaraderie, a sense that I'm not going through this alone. And we just come together as a unit and we come together as a country for our olympic team to cheer on the United States," said Therapist Kristen Lambiase.

This year's summer games are being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
