Hundreds of Staten Islanders enjoy a picturesque day celebrating the borough's most famous photographer.

The Alice Austen House organized a free community festival to honor the 150th birthday of the late photographer, Saturday.

The event featured live music, food from the grill and tours of the landmark.

Families were also treated to a professional family portrait for free.

Ellen Covington lives in Port Richmond and came to today's event with her son.  She says,

"My son is interested in photography. So I brought him out to learn about Alice Austen House and it's a nice family day."

Janice Monger is the executive director of the Alice Austen House and says,

"We get to celebrate a really important woman, a Staten Islander, who was a significant photographer and someone who made a lot of contributions to telling a story of New York city history and U.S. history through her photogrpahy."

Borough President James Oddo and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs funded the event.
