A Staten Island boy is being featured in a project to bring more exposure to a rare illnesses.

Eight-year-old Drew Denmark will appear in a book by Manhattan photographer Karen Haberberg.

Denmark was born with Phelan McDermid Syndrome, a rare chromosomal disorder.

Haberberg has been traveling across the country, capturing snapshots of other children like Denmark who are battling genetic diseases.

She says she started the project to show people what daily life is like for these kids and their families.

"People may have the perception that these families, it's all about the struggle and fighting hard and a little bit maybe depressing, and what this book really does is to highlight also the glorious moments they have," said Haberberg.

She says she will sell the book to raise money for medical research.
