A Staten Island teen says he's not letting his disability get in the way of success.

Joseph Pidoriano published the second novel in his science-fiction series called "The Dimension Travel Trilogy."

The New Dorp resident says it's been difficult making friends with his diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome.

But he says those challenges have made him a better writer.

Pidoriano says he wants others to know they don't have to let their disability keep them from their dreams.

"Because I have the Aspergers, I published the 2 books so it was a blessing for me. Don't ever let it get to you and don't ever use it as a crutch either," he said.

Pidoriano will host a book-signing Saturday at Bario's Pizza in Heartland Village from 2-6 p.m.
