A local non-profit is pooling its resources to help others in need half-way across the country.

The South Shore YMCA is collecting bottled water throughout the week for residents of Flint, Michigan.

The city's water supply became contaminated with lead back in 20-14 after officials decided to switch water sources.

A group of teens are leading the Y's effort to bring relief to Flint residents as they deal with the crisis.

They are accepting donations through Thursday, before they drive out to Michigan to deliver the clean water.

"We're taking all, any donations whether they be monetary or cases of water it really helps boost the teens' confidence and the affects on the Flint residents," said the YMCA's Tom Swanciger.

Donations can be dropped off at the Y during normal business hours.
