Workers at a major energy company give back through a volunteer clean-up.

National Grid employees were at Snug Harbor Heritage Farm Friday to clean up, plant and create compost in honor of Earth Day.

National Grid president Kenneth Daly said the company is working to provide Staten Island with cleaner forms of energy such as renewable gas and solar power.

The event is part of the company's Power to Serve Initiative to engage with local communities.

"They're working on projects here at Snug Harbor to promote Earth Day and help our customers use their energy cleanly and greenly," said Daly.

Earth Day is Friday, April 22nd.
