An Island auto shop is offering tips to keep your car healthy this winter.

Zaloom's Auto Repair says dozens of customers came into their shop after Saturday's blizzard.

Staff say the conditions caused damage to windshield wipers, axels and tires.

Mechanics say to make sure all snow is cleared before running wiper blades.

They also say to check that your tires are filled properly and have plenty of tread.

And if you find yourself stuck in snow, staff say to follow these tips and you should make it out unscathed.

"Normally we recommend people you know jockey back and forth you know jerk it back and forth try not to spin your tires and the best thing really unfortunately is to shovel yourself out," said Owner George Zaloom.

Zaloom says wiper-blade damage is the most common winter-related problem this year.
