Residents of the South Shore have a new representative in the City Council.

Republican Joe Borelli was sworn in Tuesday.

The former State Assemblyman was elected to the post earlier this month after running unopposed.

He replaces former Councilman Vincent Ignizio who resigned to take a job as the head of Catholic Charities.

Governor Cuomo must now set a date for a special election to fill Borelli's Assembly seat.
