After plenty of negative feedback, the Staten Island mall has announced it will hold a "Holiday Celebration" on Friday, December 4, complete with Santa, a tree lighting, a toy drive and more.

The announcement comes after NY1 first reported last week that the mall initially decided to go without its annual Santa Parade this year.

A spokesman released the following statement to NY1: "We heard the disappointment in your shopper feedback regarding the cancellation of the annual Santa Parade. At Staten Island Mall, we pride ourselves on being a community partner and take our shoppers’ sentiments to heart – good and bad. Accordingly, on Friday, December 4, Staten Island Mall will host a holiday celebration for the community, complete with Santa, a tree lighting, toy drive, etc. We will host the annual Santa Parade next year, and look forward to celebrating treasured traditions and events in the years to come."

The decision comes after a Staten Island resident started a Facebook page asking shoppers to boycott the mall. More than 15,000 people joined the page.
