A non profit organization teams up with a local hospital to host the first ever Organ Donor Enrollment Day.
"Live On New York" urged locals to become donors at Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton on Tuesday.
An organ donor recipient shared his life saving experience in front of residents and community leaders.
The mother of an organ donor also explained how the organs of her deceased son saved many lives.
"I don't think people realize how important it is. You're a hero, you're saving a life," said Susan Pellegrito.
"I was always sick, after the transplant all that went away and you realize how full your life can be," said Michael Marten, an organ donor recipient.
