Some local students spent their Saturday giving back to their school and community.

Members of Tottenville High School's Marching Band held their bi-annual clothing drive on the school's campus.

Students unloaded dozens of bags of clothes that they'll distribute to charities around borough.

The marching band will receive money for evey pound donated.

"It's important to support the community so that anybody who needs clothing can have what they need," said Laurie D'Amico, Assistant Director of the Tottenville High School Band.

"Us asking other to bring clothing in not only raises money for our band but it helps those, and then the money we receive, we give back to the community," said Amanda Murro, a drum major in the Tottenville High School Band.

The band will use the money raised to purchase uniforms, travel to competitions and play at local events.
