St. Ann's Church in Dongan Hills celebrated 100 years on Sunday, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan was there to congratulate it, calling it a model parish.

"You come to a parish like this celebrating its hundreth, expanding, its vibrant, the future looks strong, that's the shot of hope I need," Dolan said.

St. Ann's Pastor, Father Joy Mampilly, said during difficult times, the diocese and the Cardinal were there for them, especially during Hurricane Sandy.

"This was a humble journey. St. Ann's began in a barn not far away from here, and from that it began to grow," he said.
