State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb picked up his first county endorsement for governor.

Sunday, the Yates County Republican Committee formally backed the Canandaigua lawmaker saying Kolb has the experience and knowledge to lead the state.

For now, Kolb’s competition for the Republican nomination is former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra, a former Democrat.

State Sen. John DeFrancisco, a Syracuse Republican, is considering whether to jump into the race.

A GOP run appears to be an uphill battle with Governor Cuomo having more than $30 million in his re-election war chest.
