It's not clear what sparked a big fire in Queens over the weekend that left dozens of people homeless.

Flames broke out just after 6 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex on Beach 22nd Street in Far Rockaway.

It started on the top floor, sending residents scrambling to get out safely.

"I heard someone say 'There's fire get out, get out, there's fire.' When we came out we noticed there was fire on the six floor and there's was obviously a lot of chaos," said one resident.

"We rushed got everything and we were cared, we knocked on everybody's door so we could get out, our neighbors got out, the dog got out safely as well," said another resident.

The fire department says three tenants and four firefighters suffered minor injuries.

In total, 200 people were forced from their homes.
