Two groups in Queens team up to help promote dental health.

The Queens County Dental Society and the Tzu Chi Foundation held a community oral health screening  Sunday.

The event was designed to help New Yorkers who lack health insurance or can't afford dental treatment.

It drew hundreds of people. The dentists conducted cleanings, extractions and took care of fillings.

The group also provided oral care education and cancer screenings.

"When you have to find means to get a living you always neglect your dentals, surprising enough not many people know how to brush their teeth properly, " said Dr. Kenneth Liao, Deputy CEO, Tzu Chi Foundation, New York Chapter.

The event also focused on oral health education and medical doctors were on hand to offer consultations and screenings.
