The Flagship Diner in Briarwood, Queens has been a neighborhood staple for decades, but it's set to close up shop for good this weekend.

The property's owners are forcing the restaurant out to make way for a new apartment building.

The diner's lease was technically supposed to last until October of 2019.

Patrons say the loss leaves a hole in their community.

"I got nowhere to go for breakfast. I'm retired eight years and they just treat you like family, all the time," said one loyal customer.

"The first thing that caught my attention, it has a parking lot, and in Queens you don't have parking lots for diners. But what kept me coming back was the service. The people here are friendly, attentive and it's a pleasure to sit down," said another customer.

The last day to get a meal at the Flagship Diner is this Sunday, July 22.
