WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas -- A Williamson County Sheriff's Deputy and Army veteran left a note for a new Army recruit a few weeks after he left for boot camp.

The veteran deputy wanted to wish the new recruit good luck.

Jimmy and Mistelle Weaver just sent their oldest son Jake to Army Boot Camp. Shortly after his going away party, Jimmy noticed a note on the door from Sheriff's Deputy and Army Veteran Jeremy Jones.

The letter was his way of congratulating and honoring Jake for his decision to join the military. Jones said seeing the banner in the Weaver's yard is what led to his act of kindness.

"It really started to bring back some memories and stuff. I thought, ‘You know what I’m going to go shake that young man’s hand. I want to say thank you, I want to congratulate him and more than anything I want to wish him luck.’”, said Jones.

Jones said that he looks forward to meeting Jake whenever he returns home.
