The city's Rent Guidelines Board is holding a public hearing Thursday night.

It will hear from New Yorkers about a rent increase proposal that could begin on leases starting in October.

For one year lease renewals, the board is considering an increase of .75 to 2.75 percent.

And for two year lease renewals, there could be a hike of between 1.75 and 3.75 percent.

The proposal will be voted on later this month.

Thursday's hearing starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Queens.
