In Queens thousands turned out for an annual street fair in Long Island city.

The rain let up for Saturday's Long Island City Springs Community festival which was put on by the Long Island City Partnership.

The festival stretched down Vernon Boulevard between 46th and 50th Avenue.

Local businesses, nonprofits and artists lined the street with interactive games and activities.

Organizers say the goal of the festival was to bring the community together.

"This a place where everyone can meet. Where the older residents and the newer residents all come together and say we love Long Island City. This is a great neighborhood and we want to celebrate it," said councilman Jimmy Van Brammer.

The festival included live performances from local musicians and dancers.

This was the 5th year the event has been held.
