A late night fire in Queens left one person critically injured with severe burns.

Flames broke out in an apartment building on 11-14 46th Avenue in Long Island City shortly after 10 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found a man trapped in an apartment on the first floor.

"He was conscious, but he was severely burned, unable to move, and our members dragged him out of the apartment while simultaneously extinguishing the fire," said FDNY Deputy Chief Mark Ferran.

Nine other people suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters got the flames under control within an hour.

It's still not clear what started the fire.
